Oden Grants Special Wish for a Local Make-A-Wish® Child
(Memphis, Tenn.) — Oden employees granted 6-year-old Alexis’s wish yesterday to spend time with her family at the beach. Alexis and her parents will vacation in Gulf Shores, Ala., where she plans to enjoy the sun and sand, go fishing, and visit an amusement park. Oden granted the wish in conjunction with the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of the Mid-South.
The event was held at Oden’s office Downtown. Alexis arrived for a full photo shoot under the assumption that she was the model for a travel agency’s new ad campaign. The campaign featured a beach scene with numerous props, outfits, and accessories, which Alexis kept as gifts for her trip. She enjoyed the full “model treatment” with a dressing room, stylist, make-up artist, personal assistant, and snacks. Oden revealed the wish as the shoot concluded, using a mock-up of a travel brochure with copy telling Alexis she would be going to Gulf Shores.
Oden raised money throughout 2009 to reach the $5,000 goal. Oden Eats, a cookbook featuring a unique design and recipes from employees, contributed the majority of the funds and has since won local and district ADDY awards. Other activities included the Oden Olympics, Oden Open Putt-Putt Tournament, and competition in the downtown Corporate Karaoke Challenge.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of the Mid-South grants wishes for children
with life-threatening medical conditions between the ages of 2½ and 18 years
of age.
